I was introduced to SleepImage /CPC montior a few years ago by Dr. Rouse. And many of you have been introduced to it at the new seminar and workshops. Kudos to Dr. Rouse for making with information hit home with so many of us.

Anyone else upset with SleepImage fee structure change? In effect will triple the cost of CPC monitor as a screening tool.

Currently I was using the monitor for 1 day membership and having them sleep with it 3 nights to get a better sense of what was going on. 1 night is not enough in my opinion to understand what is happening plus sometimes get poor quality if leads fall off or some other issue. Had two other nights to look at. (more frequent in children)

I was changing flat $50 for the service to help screen ....especially kids. Price was not a barrier to using the tool.

SleepImage has change the structure no longer offering per day but as "credit" you get 2 credits or two nights only for $29.99 if you want the addition night you have to buy another credit at $29.99. So three nights will cost you $60!

Tripling the cost and you haven't even covered disposable cost for EKG stickers.

They have stopped the yearly membership that was in the neighborhood of $2500 for unlimited use and now can buy 100 Credits for $2999.

They said this was because of confusion and feed back from their customers that the change was made but as I discussed how the this was a huge cost increase they said that is was still "cheaper" than a PSG. I personally feel they just figured they can charge way more. I also brought up that we as dentists use this as a screening tool and that many sleep MDs want to follow up with PSG for diagnosis purposes. The reply was that that was their choice and that CPC was FDA cleared for use in as sleep diagnosis, and that SleepImage responded "MDs they just want the billable fee why they don't use the CPC."

We are trying to have a inexpensive option to screen these high risk patients and to have them understand that what you have been showing them from the signs and symptoms that they present with that BREATHING ( Sleep ) is a huge factor in their problem.

$50 is an easily sell to patients especially parents of young children and VERY helpful when sending kids to the ENT for T/A evaluation. Access to this care/information is hard enough.

I post this because I wanted all of you thinking about this or using CPC to call and complain to SleepImage that they making this screening tool harder to facilitate in practice especially in a dental practice as it is an out of pocket cost no insurance is paying for it and a huge tool to help patients understand their conditions.

They told me that the reason they changed the fee structure was because of user feed back. Maybe they need some more feedback.
