CC:"I need to find more balance between my time in the office and my time at home. I have a wife, a 3 year old and a 6 year old. I need to spend my fridays at home with family and not at the office writing rof's."

Prior to taking FGTP we would have a second visit with most patients, the review of findings (rof). At this appointment i would have a typed up summary of their chief complaint, conditions, medical concerns, bite, cosmetics, perio concerns..etc..we would have a diagnosis and a general treatment recommendations (professional cleaning, address active decay...) section. We would close with a little paragraph about us enjoying doing the exam and helping them on the path to health. I dont spend too much time making multiple detailed treatment plans as the patient typically has just become aware of some issues and have yet to really own their problems or ask for a solution. We bring awareness during the exam but really let them see it at the rof (summary, xray review and photos). It takes a lot of time to do these write ups.

I do these myself and they can take some time. I am a small general practice and see about 15 new patients per month. First visit is 1.5 hours, ROF is typically one hour.

My dilemma is that clients typically comment on how thorough this is and how this is so different than what they have had in the past and how it was a big benefit...but..they take a lot of time to do. I tend to find myself using dental terms and most likely over doing it. I would love to change this to more of a bullet point format (faster to do, easier for the client to read and hopefully understand). I have recently tried to use the FGTP forms (the one with the photos and the boxes to check) but find myself feeling like i am jumbled and making a combo summary with my stuff plus the FGTP stuff (i trimmed mine down but still). If the client is concerned we will do the FGTP drawings (i would like to do these for almost everyone but have yet to implement that).

I want these to be thorough and highlight the difference between us and the office down the street but need them to be easier and faster. I want the client to see things very easy and dont want them to be reading a novel at their rof..lol

I would love to hear, see what is working for others.
